HSM Essay Encyclopedia By Raheel Safi Khalid | HSM Global Age
An essay is a short work of nonfiction, typically written in prose form. Essays are traditionally divided into three parts: the introduction, the body, and the conclusion. However, in recent years, the five-paragraph essay has become more common, especially in high school and college settings.
The word “essay” comes from the French word essayer, meaning “to try” or “to attempt.” In English, the word “essay” has come to be used as a general term for a short piece of writing on a particular subject.
There are many different types of essays, and each has its own purpose and style. However, all essays share some basic elements, such as an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
The introduction is the first paragraph of the essay, and it should present the main idea of the essay in a clear and concise manner.
